The SMERU Research Institute as a knowledge partner to the OECD Forum

Since 2013, The SMERU Research Institute has been invited to participate as a knowledge partner to the OECD Forum. Up to now, SMERU has been present as an active participant in two occasions. In April 2013, Widjajanti Isdijoso (Deputy Director of Research and Outreach) presented “Intergovernmental Coordination of Social Protection in Decentralized Indonesia” at The OECD Workshop on Inclusive Growth. The following year, Rachma Indah Nurbani attended the IdeaFactory Session on OECD Forum 2014 to participate in the discussion about ageing “A New Age”. Her participation in the forum represented SMERU’s initial step as a knowledge partner of OECD along with four other big think tank organizations in other emerging countries. This year SMERU will be joining OECD Forum 2016—which will focus on productive economies and inclusive societies, including productivity & inclusive growth, innovation & digital economy, and international collaboration—as a Friend of the Forum.

The OECD Forum is an event where leaders and influencers from all sectors of civil society—such as former and current heads of state and government, top CEOs, leaders of key NGOs and trade unions, and prominent members of academia and media—gather every year to enter the debate about the most pressing social and economic challenges confronting society.

The Forum is a key, annual multi-stakeholder event that is essential for delivering the OECD mandate as an inclusive, global policy network to promote better policies for better lives. The Forum presents a wide range of sessions and interactive formats to facilitate connections and exchange, with debates that are aimed to shape and improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
