Echa is a qualitative researcher specializing in the field of public health, specifically on issues related to children and youth development. Echa was involved in the RISE Programme Indonesia, amassing experience in system analysis particularly in the field of education. She led the comparative study of state-readiness to improve the schooling-from-home system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her other research in the field of education includes an innovative longitudinal study of beginning teachers’ journey, a political-economic analysis of the teacher unions, and a comprehensive overhaul study on teacher professional development.

Outside the field of education, Echa has led research to inform evidence-based policy for inclusive development. Echa led the development of the research design to perform landscape analysis for children with disability and was involved in the early research in assessing the implementation of the Disability Law. She has also developed an extensive portfolio for child-centred research including a collaborative socioeconomic and biological research project on children’s and adolescents’ health

As a researcher Echa is involved in the entirety of a research project cycle. With passion for child-centered research, Echa has led the integration of innovative child-centred methodologies to advocate for a child-centred data collection approach.  

Starting her career as an intern, Echa was involved in a research collaboration between SMERU and UNICEF on urban child poverty. To date, she continues to be involved in a collaborative study with UNICEF with her research focusing on children’s subjective well-being.
