Baseline Assessment: The Socioeconomic Condition of the Communities around the Mining Area in Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat

Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat (KSB) is one of the kabupaten (districts) in West Nusa Tenggara Province with a very large proportion of the mining and quarrying sector. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that in 2021, the sector contributed no less than 81.89% to the regional gross domestic product (GDP). This resulted in KSB being dependent on the mining and quarrying sector—the fluctuation in its economic growth follows the fluctuation in the growth of this sector. On the other hand, the poverty and inequality rates in KSB were still above the national average.

Review of Public Expenditure for Stunting Prevention at Regional Level: The Factors Influencing Stunting Prevalence Variation in Six Kabupaten/Kota in Indonesia

Indonesia is one among countries in the world with severe nutrititional status in the world with its stunting prevalence of around 31%. This is not directly proportional to the government’s increased expenditure in their nutrition improvement attempt that it gives rise to a question on the effectiveness of the interventions they have made.

Impact Evaluation of PINTAR Program in Paser District

Using a mixed-methods approach, this study investigated the impact of the PINTAR Program in Paser District. The Tanoto Foundation partnered with regional education offices to provide support and guidance to school principals and teachers. The quantitative analysis involved surveys of 10 primary schools (SD) and 10 lower secondary schools (SMP) which consist of 10 intervention schools and 10 control schools. The surveys looked at student learning outcomes and the influence of the principal's leadership, teacher teaching practices, and parental assistance.

Indonesia’s Technology Startups: Voices from the Ecosystem

Tech startups require an ecosystem of support that differs from the assistance provided to traditional small enterprises. The ecosystem should comprise not only dedicated government policies and programs, but also financing solutions, support from incubator and accelerator programs, and talent development (human resources) versed in technological innovation, but also in inventing new business models. The ecosystem includes public, private, and quasi-public players. Building this ecosystem is critical to developing a vibrant community of tech startups.

Baseline Study on BASAbali's Evaluation of Youth Civic Participation in Bali and South Sulawesi

Civic participation by young people plays in an important role in society through their actions to address public issues. Youth civic participation can be voluntary or mandatory (driven by norms/laws) and done individually or collectively. In this baseline study, we have explored the profile and current situation of youth civic participation in Greater Denpasar and Greater Makassar to look into the changes in youth civic participation and youth’s participation behavior through the BASAbali program.

Analysis of Digital Skills Development in The Public Sector in Indonesia

The COVID-19 pandemic has proved that digital transformation is a must for the public sector. In fact, the initiative to go digital in Indonesia was started when Presidential Instruction No. 3/2003 on National Policy and Strategy on e-Government was issued and later re-intensified in 2018 when Presidential Regulation No. 95/2018 on e-Government was issued. However, it takes digital skills in public sector to implement e-Government. In reality, only limited numbers of government employees have digital skills as explicitly written in Presidential Regulation No. 95/2018.

Men- and women-owned/led MSMEs and the COVID-19 Policy Responses in Indonesia

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought an unprecedented challenge for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) globally, including in Indonesia. In response to the pandemic, the Government of Indonesia launched a program to provide working capital assistance for micro-entrepreneurs categorized as poor and who are vulnerable to being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many MSMEs in Indonesia are also on the brink of failure during the COVID-19 pandemic as revenue significantly decreased due to a significant drop in demand (Badan Pusat Statistik, 2020).
