Poverty and Inequality Analysis
We use mixed-method, quantitative, qualitative and participatory approaches to conduct poverty assessment and analysis, focusing on income and non-income dimensions of deprivation and the determining factors.
Poverty and inequality are at the heart of all our research. We pioneered the development of small area poverty estimates in Indonesia and have successfully published poverty estimates of all villages and kecamatan (subdistricts) all over Indonesia, based on the Population Census of 2000 and 2010. We also introduced the participatory poverty assessment and community-based monitoring system. Our poverty analyses have spanned from measuring poverty dynamic and vulnerability to developing specific poverty measures, including child poverty and women in poverty. Moreover, poverty issues are mainstreamed in all of our research and analyses in order to support a more pro-poor public policy.
