Lia earned her bachelor’s degree in Computational Statistics from the Institute of Statistics in Jakarta and a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Loyola University Chicago. Her interest in public and population health issues motivated her to pursue another master program in Population Health Science at the University of Alabama from 2019 to 2021.
Lia is a quantitative researcher with interests in various topics, including public health, environmental health, education, poverty, climate change, and inequality.
Prior to joining SMERU, Lia was a project associate/data system analyst at Chapin Hall, an independent policy research center at the University of Chicago. At Chapin Hall, she performed research functions in various areas, including education, criminal and juvenile justice, public health, early childhood programs, and child welfare systems. Previously, she worked at Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University as a research assistant who conducted research in the cardiology unit to study the collaboration among hospital providers in terms of patient outcomes. Before pursuing master’s degree in the United States, Lia worked at Statistics Indonesia.
