Training on Poverty Reduction Policy Analysis: Second Batch
After successfully conducting the first training on poverty reduction policy analysis at the end of 2019, The SMERU Research Institute held a similar event in Makassar, Province of South Sulawesi, on 11–13 February 2020.
Collaborating with the Provincial Government of South Sulawesi, Hasanuddin University, and Knowledge Sector Initiative, SMERU invited government employees and staff of relevant institutions from eastern Indonesia to join the training. Due to seat limitation, only 25 people were selected as training participants.
There were a lot of discussions during the three-day training sessions. Lectures were given by guest experts from the State Administration Agency (LAN), Bappenas, and Hasanuddin University. They shared great knowledge about the roles of policy analysts in the formulation of poverty reduction analysis, policy designs and evaluations, as well as policy innovations in regard to poverty reduction measures in South Sulawesi. The modules used in the training were improved versions of those used in the first training. In addition to getting lectures and module presentations, the participants had the chance to practice conducting in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, in role plays, to collect poverty data.
