Valentina Y. D. Utari
Utari holds a master's degree in development studies, majoring in gender and development, from the University of Melbourne in Australia. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in English-Indonesian translation studies from the University of Indonesia and a degree in English language from Airlangga University.
Utari first joined SMERU as an editor/translator, but moved into the research team after completing her postgraduate studies in development. Prior to joining SMERU, Utari worked as an interpreter and translator for a variety of organisations, including CAVR de Timor Leste, UN Women, UNDP, KKP Indonesia-Timor Leste, GTZ , FAO, International Livestock Research Institute and MercyCorps Indonesia. She also worked as an English tutor for University of Indonesia and Pusat Pelayanan Bahasa UI Depok & Salemba (Language Service Center of the University of Indonesia, Depok & Salemba), and as a marketing and production assistant for Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia, Mojokerto in East Java.
