Wiwin obtained her master’s degrees in linguistics from Universitas Indonesia in 2011 and in Southeast Asian studies from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2016. 

Wiwin edits both English and Indonesian manuscripts for clarity, accuracy, and conciseness. She checks and corrects grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors, and ensures that the manuscripts conform to SMERU’s style guide. She also translates documents from Indonesian into English and vice versa.

Wiwin pays particular attention to the use of politically correct and bias-free language to promote empathy, equality, and inclusion. She also coordinates with researchers and other staff members to resolve substantive or structural issues in a manuscript. Furthermore, she meticulously checks citations to eliminate the risk of plagiarism, which can harm writers’ academic reputation.

Wiwin also provides editorial support to staff members from other sections. For example, she assists the Communication Section in the preparation of social media content to disseminate SMERU’s publications. She makes sure that the content speaks the same language as the target audience so that the message can be well received. Wiwin has also been periodically assigned to conduct training on effective presentations and effective sentences, particularly in policy brief writing.

Prior to joining SMERU, Wiwin taught English and Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) at Lembaga Bahasa Internasional, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia. During her time at the institution, she joined several editing projects with other fellow teachers. Wiwin also taught Indonesian grammar as part of BIPA teaching to students majoring in English education, Atma Jaya Catholic University.

In 2011, Wiwin received the Asian Graduate Student Fellowship from the Asia Research Institute (ARI), NUS. With the fellowship, she had the opportunity to access various resources that supported her to write her graduate thesis on the communication strategies used by English learners in the Indonesian context. Together with fellow students from other Southeast Asian countries, she had the chance to present her thesis in the 6th Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies.
