Mayang joined SMERU as a qualitative researcher. She is involved in all stages of research, from developing research proposal, designs, and instruments; preparing the research ethics code; testing research instruments; analyzing research findings to writing research reports and relevant publications. Mayang also engages with policymakers of multiple sectors, including the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the Ministry of Health, Statistics Indonesia, UNDP, UNICEF, and the World Bank.
In her early days of joining SMERU, Mayang was part of a research team working on a landscape analysis of children with disabilities in Indonesia. The study aimed to understand the situation of children with disabilities, especially from the standpoint of the policy framework, implementation of regulations and programs in the field, and the welfare conditions of children with disabilities.
Mayang has research interests in the health sectors, specifically in health promotion, mental health, immunization, vaccine management, health monitoring-evaluation, and other health development issues.
Prior to joining SMERU, Mayang was a monitoring, evaluation, and reporting officer at the National MDGs Secretariat under the Ministry of National Development Planning, funded by UNDP. After completing her master’s in Public Health Advance from the University of Wollongong, Australia, Mayang became a lecturer at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia. Mayang also took on various roles, including consultant, researcher, and project management officer in research. She also developed policy action plans and monitoring and evaluation reports with multiple stakeholders. Mayang is experienced in topics relevant to GERMAS (Healthy Living Community Movement), population census management, vaccine management, reproductive health for children with disabilities, prevention of COVID-19, tobacco control policy, HIV/AIDS, and many more. Mayang was also an Editorial Manager in the Perilaku & Promosi Kesehatan [Health Behavior and Promotion]: Indonesian Journal of Health Promotion and Behavior.
