The 2016 Indonesian Development Research Network Workshop

The Indonesia Project of the Australian National University (ANU), in collaboration with The SMERU Research Institute, organized The 4th Indonesian Development Research Network (IDRN) Workshop on 17–18 May 2016 in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. It was attended by approximately 40 researchers from various institutes in Indonesia and Australia.

The objective of the Indonesia Project’s research network activities is to support and strengthen the rigor of social science research conducted by Indonesian researchers by establishing an active network of Indonesian research institutes and holding annual research workshops and research grants to stimulate research cooperation between Indonesian and Australian research institutes. The aim of the fourth research workshop was to provide Indonesian research institutes with a platform to present and discuss their current research in the area of economic development and policy with particular focuses on:

  1. macroeconomics, trade, and industry;
  2. social policy, labor markets, and human capital;
  3. sociopolitical economy and governance; and
  4. agriculture, environment, and resources.

​The two-day research workshop included one day of paper presentations by the winners of the call for papers and one day of presentations by the recipients of the 2015/2016 research grants. The selected papers were discussed in detail by senior researchers from Australia and Indonesia.
