Annabel (Abel) joined SMERU as a qualitative researcher. She is involved in the entire research process, from proposal preparation, research design, data collection, analysis of findings, report writing to policy engagement with relevant stakeholders. 

Before joining SMERU, Abel was an expert staff to a regent in Central Java from January 2021 to September 2022. She conducted research and policy studies to assist the regent in making decisions accurately and quickly. She was also responsible for strengthening the relationship between the regent and other stakeholders, including government officials at various levels, the private sector, the community, NGOs, and others.

After working in the public sector for nearly two years, in early 2022, Abel moved to work in the academic field by becoming a lecturer at Paramadina University in Jakarta. She taught a partnership course, which explored ways to create good working relationships among stakeholders, such as the government, private sector, community, and academics/researchers.

Abel also has experience working in a consulting firm engaged in regional planning and public policy. She was appointed as a project manager in several research and consulting works. She collaborated with a number of ministries, local governments, tourism authority boards, and other institutions.
