Nawala SMERU December/XII/2023

This marks the last issue of Nawala SMERU in 2023.

In this edition, you can access SMERU’s review of the visions and missions of the Indonesian presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 election on the topics of poverty, social protection, and education. This review is one of our efforts to present a careful and objective view of potential policy directions, particularly those grounded on research results.

We also recommend two recent publications arising from SMERU’s research. The first is an academic journal article on the granting of autonomy to teachers under the implementation of the Emancipated Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka). The second is a SMERU research note on inclusive economic development in Kabupaten Ketapang.

To conclude this year, we would like to extend my appreciation to all who have partnered with SMERU throughout the year, both in research initiatives or knowledge exchange. Our missions would not be possible without the support of donor agencies, public policymakers, and development partners.

Season's greetings to those celebrating Christmas, and may we have a wonderful year-end break. Best wishes for a productive and prosperous 2024.
