Fair Education through the Management of Out-of-School Children

Monday, November 8, 2021

One of the strategies to address the issue of out-of-school children (OOSC) is providing education assistance for children from underprivileged families through the Smart Indonesia Program (Program Indonesia Pintar/PIP). Because the number of OOSC is still high, PIP needs to be strengthened, both in the planning and execution, to boost the program’s effectiveness in reaching as many OOSC as possible. With this in mind, the Religious Affairs, Education, and Culture Directorate of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas organized a webinar with the theme “Fair Education through the Management of Out-of-School Children” as a way to strengthen the implementation of the National Strategy for the Management of Out-of-School Children (Stranas ATS).

At the event, Ulfah Alifia (Senior Researcher, The SMERU Research Institute) presented the findings of the institute’s research conducted in collaboration with UNICEF Indonesia entitled “The Effectiveness of Program Indonesia Pintar in Fulfilling the Rights to Education for Children from Vulnerable Families and Out-of-School Children”.
