One of the efforts to improve The SMERU Research Institute’s real contribution in policy formulation is disseminating information and collaborating with other parties, either with other research institutions or with stakeholders, including nongovernmental organizations (NGO), which utilize its research findings.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has an impact on the economy of households in Indonesia, with 50% of them suffering from financial distress. Limited employment because of contracted business activities as the result of the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) led to families receiving less income, while prices of daily necessities tended to climb up.

The enactment of Law No. 11 of 2019 on the Science and Technology National System has shed a light on the development of a research ecosystem in Indonesia, and it is expected that the law can boost the quantity and quality of research in various fields of science.
