Indonesia is committed to realizing children's rights fairly. In 2017, Indonesia has measured the situation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to children, the results of which are presented in a report titled "SDG Baseline Report on Children in Indonesia".

The COVID-19 pandemic has had significant negative impacts on children, including increased child poverty, disrupted schooling and learning, increased food insecurity, and disrupted services for children with disability. Social protection systems, including social assistance programs, have played a crucial role in mitigating the adverse effects of the pandemic on children.

The initial aim of the school grants program in Indonesia (known as the School Operational Assistance/BOS Program) was to compensate the burden carried by the community, especially the poor, for the costs of education (elementary and junior high school) following the government’s decision to reduce fuel subsidies in 2005.

This study seeks to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the profile, role, and capacity of CSOs in Indonesia, while also identifying the challenges they face and analyzing their needs for capacity building.

The research revisits and updates the current Indonesia’s Youth Development Index to strengthen its role in underlying policies, programs, and directions for youth-related issues in Indonesia over the next five years.
