Farez obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2021. He completed his studies in 3.5 years. His undergraduate thesis discussed factors of the demand and supply sides that influence parents’ decision to choose madrasa over other types of schools in Indonesia for their children’s education.

Farez is a junior quantitative researcher specializing in development economics. His main research interests include, but are not limited to, economics of education, labor economics, and poverty. In general, he is responsible for collecting, managing, and analyzing quantitative data.

Farez started his career at SMERU by becoming a research assistant for the Digital Upskilling in Indonesia research project. Prior to joining SMERU, he was a research and teaching assistant at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
