Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
In August 2019, I was entrusted to receive the leadership baton from Dr. Asep Suryahadi to be the director of The SMERU Research Institute. This is by no means an easy task considering the various accomplishments made by SMERU during his term. Still, my optimism remains as Dr.
The Indonesian Government continues to improve its social protection system to ensure the welfare of all citizens in accordance with the mandate of the constitution. Among the population groups that require special attention in the social protection system is the elderly.
Observation of teacher practice may provide information on whether learning takes place in the classroom. We develop this observation instrument to describe and investigate teaching practices of primary and secondary school teachers. The design of our instrument is drawn upon aspects of teaching from two national teacher evaluations and selected international observation instruments.
This edition of SMERU’s newsletter disseminates research results on youth and children while focusing on a topic relatively rarely discussed by the public. First, about youth’s role in development, which often has a nuance of mere jargon.
