The government has made various efforts to prevent the worsening impacts of climate change. However, local governments have not fully engaged in these initiatives. This edition of Nawala SMERU provides insights into SMERU's research plan designed to enhance the capacities of local governments in implementing just energy transition.

We have reached the last quarter of 2023. This month, SMERU engaged in numerous discussions with policymakers. In addition, we organized the 2023 Forum Pembangunan Daerah (FPD), or the Regional Development Forum in Kupang, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The August issue of Nawala SMERU highlights some of our latest publications. These include a web story showcasing digital infographics and posters of research based on children's perspectives, a report on the startup ecosystem in Indonesia, and a scientific article analyzing the impact of Village Fund transfers on village well-being in Indonesia.

In the July issue, we bring you a variety of information derived from SMERU’s research. These include a policy brief on recovering learning losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, a popular scientific article discussing the challenges faced by children from single-parent households in accessing education, and a policy brief on development and economic prosperity published by Think7.

SMERU actively disseminates the results of its research through various events. Apart from being a manifestation of our responsibility as a research institution, the research dissemination events are a means of introducing SMERU's research results to a wide audience, including policymakers.
